After a year-long delay, the release of “Godzilla vs. Kong” is finally right around the corner. On Sunday, HBO Max released the official trailer for the highly anticipated new film — the fourth in Legendary Entertainment’s “Monsterverse” franchise after “Godzilla,” “Kong: Skull Island,” and “Godzilla: King of the Monsters.” The film will be released in theaters and on HBO Max simultaneously as part of Warner Brothers coronavirus strategy.
“Godzilla vs. Kong” stars Millie Bobby Brown and Kyle Chandler from “King of the Monsters,” alongside Alexander Skarsgård, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza González, and Jessica Henwick. Chronologically, “Godzilla vs. Kong” takes place immediately after the events in “Godzilla: King of the Monsters.”
The film tracks the story of Kong and his protectors journeying to find his home. Along the way, they cross paths with Godzilla and a destructive, global battle ensues. Or as IMDB puts it, “As a squadron embarks on a perilous mission into fantastic uncharted terrain, unearthing clues to the Titans’ very origins and mankind’s survival, a conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.”
The trailer provides a sneak peek into the perilous mission. In it, we see the two ferocious creatures battling it out as their human friends and foes both contribute to and attempt to stop the calamity. The only question that remains is who will win — Godzilla or Kong? Choose your fighter and find out if you’re right on March 26th.
