Nia Dennis has gone viral — again.
A year after garnering massive attention for a Beyoncé-inspired floor routine, the UCLA gymnast is trending with a performance that honors Black culture and features the music of Kendrick Lamar, Tupac Shakur, Missy Elliott, Megan Thee Stallion and Soulja Boy.
Dennis’ routine received an enthusiastic response in the building and a score of 9.95, which helped the Bruins secure a season-opening 196.15-195.95 win over Arizona State on Saturday at Pauley Pavilion.
UCLA tweeted a video of the performance, along with the caption, “This is what #blackexcellence looks like.”
“This routine definitely reflects everything that I am today as a woman,” Dennis told reporters. “And of course I had to incorporate a lot of parts of my culture. I wanted to have a dance party because that’s my personality and of course I had to shout out L.A. because we out here, UCLA.”
The video was viewed more than 6.3 million times 22 hours after it was tweeted. Dennis expressed her gratitude in a retweet.
“thank you thank you thank you,” tweeted Dennis.
Elliott praised Dennis with the word “Snappin” and a fire emoji in response to the UCLA gymnastics tweet of the routine.
Four-time Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles retweeted Dennis’ routine and wrote, “okay @DennisNia do the damn thing girl this was so fun to watch! keep killing it!”
The video of Dennis’ performance to Beyoncé’s “Crazy in Love” has been viewed 15.3 million times since last February.
