Boris Johnson has insisted he is “very confident” vaccine manufacturers will deliver on contracts to supply the UK amid growing pressure from the EU to divert doses to Europe.
A furious row has broken out between Brussels and AstraZeneca over the Anglo-Swedish giant’s announcement that it is cutting expected deliveries of its jabs to the EU by around 60 per cent.
EU officials are understood to be demanding that doses produced in the UK should be sent to the continent to make up for a shortfall in provision.
