Unfortunately, in the rap game, artists getting arrested happen more often than not. Rapper Foogiano, whose real name is Kwame Brown and is signed to Gucci Mane’s record label “1017,” has been arrested in Memphis and was taken into the Shelby County Jail. He was arrested yesterday after he allegedly removed his court-ordered ankle monitor and disappeared for two weeks. Foogiano has been charged with being a fugitive from justice without a warrant. According to the Athens-Banner Herald, on Dec. 29, 2020, Foogiano was wanted in Georgia’s Greensboro County following his disappearance.
In the Athens-Banner Herald’s report, Foogiano was ordered to stay in his home in Georgia after being arrested for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in Barrow County, Ga. on Dec. 6, 2020. That arrest was a direct violation of his probation which stemmed from a prior burglary conviction. At the time, Foogiano was released from Greene County Jail on Dec. 14, 2020, after he appeared in Greene County Superior Court on a $50,000 cash bond after violating his probation agreement. However, a Georgia Department of Community Service officer received confirmation on the same day that the “Gutta Baby’ rapper had tampered with his ankle monitor after he was released. Reports say that allegedly his ankle bracelet was found on the side of a highway in Barrow County, Ga., with what appeared to be melted off straps.
Fans would have never known he was in any legal trouble because although Foogiano was on the run, he was very active in social media. Yesterday his girlfriend, rapper Renni Rucci shared photos of the couple on her Instagram page with the caption,” I got us! Minor setback for a major comeback.” Many of her fans offered her words of encouragement.
