Cameron Norrie defeated Dan Evans in an all-British clash to reach the Australian Open second round for the first time in his career.
British No 1 Evans, seeded 30th, won his first tour-level title on the eve of the delayed first Grand Slam but was beaten 6-4 4-6 6-4 7-5 in just under three-and-a-half hours.
Norrie, the British No 3, will play Ilya Ivashka or Roman Safiullin in the second round at Melbourne Park.
