News just in: NZ have announced their T20I squad for the Bangladesh games. Some IPL bound players, including Williamson, will not take part. A maiden NZ call-up for Finn Allen though! Full details here
5.45pm Game on! Bangladesh have scored more than double from their first ODI thanks to Tamim Iqbal (78) at the top and Mohammad Mithun (73 off 57). Some people would say they could’ve got 300+ if they weren’t so careful in their first 20 overs. But Tamim did say at the toss that they were looking to be conservative in the first 15 overs so that a base is set for a late assault. And on that template, they have hit the nail on the head. From NZ’s point of view, Henry was excellent at the top, as was Jamieson. Boult did well to trouble Bangladesh enough when there was no swing. And Santner bowled very smartly. A forgettable first-half of the match for Neesham though. We’ll be back soon for the chase.

Tasmeem: “The key would be taking out Guptill and Nicolls early and then put pressure on them through Mahedi. If the start was a bit better, could’ve gotten around 300. Too much defensive play against Jamieson was the only blemish.”
Pratyya: “Those 5 maidens from Henry and Jamieson…”
Santner: “Slower pitch than we expected. We know they have some good spinners too. Tamim played well. I think the slower you bowl, the better. Did that in the latter part of the spell. The seamers bowled well at the start. Tamim played well to get through that. I guess 271 is a decent score, and we back to chase it.”
Neesham to Mohammad Mithun, FOUR runs, what a way to finish! Good length on off. Pulled behind square to deep backward square leg. Bangladesh make 271
