Children’s books have never felt more precious. They offer an escape from the boredom and frustration of lockdown, taking young readers on fantastical journeys to distant – and different – lands. They might crash land in the Amazon, cross the Himalayas or be whizzed back to ancient times. Last weekend, author Piers Torday picked 10 books that offer adventure and drama, tears and laughs. Now we’d like your recommendations for books that take young readers on a journey to a real place – not an imaginary one. Avoid the titles chosen by Piers and tell us about your favourites, either from your own childhood or your children’s.
